OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: Rick Walker 

Rick Walker is from Bremerton. He was an honor roll student-athlete from the 1974 graduating class at East High School in Bremerton. He led the Knights to two state AA basketball championships. Rick was selected a high school all-American and small college all-American at the University of Puget Sound. In 1976, he helped lead the university to its first NCAA division 2 National Championship and is the school’s all-time leading scorer. He was honored by the university for his sportsmanship and example of Christian character by receiving the Tim McDonough award for two consecutive years. In 1993 he was inducted into the University of Puget Sound’s Sports Hall of Fame as a player. In 2003 the 1976 national championship team was inducted into the University of Puget Sound Hall of Fame. In the year 2000, Bremerton Athletic Roundtable and The Sun (Kitsap Sun) honored Rick by selecting him Kitsap County’s Basketball Athlete of The Century.In 2005 he was inducted into the Tacoma-Pierce County Hall of Fame and into the Kitsap County Old Timers Sports Hall of Fame.

Rick has coached at all youth age levels. He coached boys high school basketball for 28 years. He was head boys coach at King’s West School from 1992 to 2007 and at Crosspoint Academy from 2013 to 2018. King’s West team finished 6th in State in 2005. He was voted Sea-Tac Coach of the Year for three season.  

Our Program Director: Josh Mathews

Josh graduated from North Kitsap High School in 2002 and played 3 years varsity basketball and was voted by teammates Mr. Viking for high character and leadership on and off the court. 

Josh graduated from Northwest University with a degree in Religion & Philosophy and Biblical Studies. He received his Masters of Arts in Religion from Liberty University concentrating in Discipleship Ministries. 

After graduating from college, he and his wife worked and lived abroad in the Dominican Republic serving the community of Jarabacoa for four years. 

They moved to Bremerton in 2012 to work at Youth for Christ where Josh has been working with youth in the community ever since. He served as the assistant boy’s basketball coach at Bremerton High School from 2014-2018.  

Josh and Vicki have been married for 14 years and have two children, ages 7 and 5.
